Living in the Manito Neighborhood of South Hill in Spokane

Manito is one of the South Hill's most notable neighborhoods. Manito means "spirit of nature." It is aptly named as the neighborhood is focused around the most beautiful public park in Spokane and the state of Washington. When properties come for sale here it is smart to make a quick move as it is highly desirable among young families and long-time multi-generational residents alike. The streets are lined with towering pines and leafy green trees. The park is within walking distance of gorgeous large historic homes. The overall community culture is friendly and vibrant, yet relaxed and warm. It is a place of walkable destinations and fun community events just minutes from downtown and everything else in the greater Spokane area.

Things To Do In Manito Park Spokane

Manito Park is the gem of the South Hill. 78 acres of gardens, pathways, playgrounds, a pond, The Gaiser Conservatory, and even a cafe that is open during the summer. The park was originally established in 1904 and has original structures and features that are still being used today. The Park Bench Cafe is located inside the park and offers summertime lunches and ice cream. The cafe is also home to Friday evening concerts in the park.

Though Manito Park gets all of the attention here, Cannon Hill Park is also located a few blocks away and a great neighborhood park in itself. Cannon Hill Park is popular for the duck pond and its open green spaces.

Manito Boulevard begins at the south end of the park and is a “neighborhood extension” of the park with historic homes lining the streets and a tree-lined terrace in the middle. Homes in the neighborhood are highly south-after and are often valued well above the median home prices in Spokane.
